The wait is over. The battle has been won. McG has managed to outmaneuver Breck Eisner to direct the feature adaptation of the Ouija board game. A few weeks ago we reported that the duo both submitted pitches to Universal outlining their respective visions for the film and according to Heat Vision the studio has made their decision. McG has walked away victorious.
Ouija has a screenplay by Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and is being produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. Not much is known about the film’s plot but it’s “described as a four-quadrant supernatural adventure centering around a family, with influences from The Mummy and Indiana Jones.”
We’re not exactly sure what McG plans to do with that premise, but whatever it is, he impressed the execs at Universal with it. To be honest, we felt that McG had the upper hand on this one. His track record is a little better with commercial successes like Charlie’s Angels, and the decent but not overwhelming Terminator Salvation.
Hopefully we’ll see bigger and better things from Eisner in the future.
What do you think of McG directing Ouija? Do you think Eisner would have been a better choice?
