The cast of Neill Blomkamp’s highly anticipated new film Elysium has been infused with a multiple Oscar winner. According to Deadline, Jodie Foster has just signed on to co-star in the film alongside Matt Damon and Sharlto Copley. Elysium is the follow up project to Blomkamp’s solid feature film debut District 9.
The plot for Elysium has been described as being “set in the far future on another planet and is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film.” Any and all other details regarding the plot are being kept under lock and key. We’re also not sure what type of roles Copley, Damon, and Foster are supposed to play.
Foster has been in the news over the past year regarding her work behind the scenes as the director of the much talked about comedy The Beaver. The film stars Mel Gibson, and is expected to hit theaters on April 11. Foster is also set to appear in God of Carnage, the Roman Polanski-directed adaptation of Yasmina Reza’s Tony-winning play. In that film she’ll join Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly.
