Paul Reubens comeback as the legendary Pee-Wee Herman has been a huge success. What started off as a small theater run in Los Angeles ended up on Broadway in New York and now it’s heading back to the small screen. According to the Los Angeles Times, Pee-Wee Herman is making a return to HBO where it all began.

Before Herman became a successful film franchise it was a stand up routine that Reubens’ had created that got noticed in the “Young Comedians” series, followed by an HBO special that aired in 1981. Nancy Geller, HBO’s senior vice president of original programming said, “It’s thrilling to have Paul back on the network, and it will be a blast to return to Pee-wee’s Playhouse.”

The new Pee-Wee Herman special will air 30 years after its original debut and will once again feature all our favorite characters including Mailman Mike, Cowboy Curtis, Miss Yvonne. We would give anything to see Laurence Fishburne make a random appearance as Cowboy Curtis during the show but we doubt it will happen. He’s too busy solving murders on “CSI.”

What do you think about Pee-Wee Herman’s return to HBO? Will you be watching?
