Just when we thought the Ouija board movie was a figment of our imaginations, we get hit with a status update. According to THR, the adaptation is still happening and Universal is narrowing down the candidates of possible directors. Two helmers are sitting pretty at the top of the list and they’re none other than McG and Breck Eisner.
The trade reports that last Friday, McG gave a presentation to the studio and pitched his vision of the Ouija story, which has a screenplay by Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and is being produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. The previous week, Eisner sat down with the big bosses to give his take on the source material.
Not much is known about the film’s plot but it’s “described as a four-quadrant supernatural adventure centering around a family, with influences from The Mummy and Indiana Jones.” Out of the two directors, it looks like McG might have the upper hand and it has nothing to do with his talent. His overall package just looks more attractive in terms of financial gain for the studio. When they look at McG, Bay, Horowitz and Kitsis all they see is Terminator: Salvation, Transformers, and Tron Legacy money. It’s sad, but true.
Who do you think should direct Ouija?
