If you thought you were going to escape 2010 without one more dose of Betty White, you were sadly mistaken. The veteran actress and Hollywood darling has received another honor for her talent. The Associated Press has named White as their Entertainer of the Year. Even though all the actress’ media coverage is bordering on overkill, we’ve got to admit that she’s a much better choice than Taylor Swift (we’re looking at you Entertainment Weekly).

The 88 year old White beat off some tough competition to land the top spot on AP’s list. She ran circles around James Cameron, “Glee,” and Conan O’Brien. White’s accomplished year began with a lifetime achievement award in January from the Screen Actor’s Guild, she also appeared in a hilarious Super Bowl ad for Snickers, followed by a heavily campaigned hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live,” and a gig as a regular on the hit TV Land show “Hot in Cleveland,” which was recently nominated for a SAG award (the first the network has ever received).

When asked about the AP honor, White affectionately said, “It’s ridiculous. They haven’t caught on to me, and I hope they never do.”

What do you think of White earning Entertainer of the Year from the AP?
