We have an confession to make. We love SyFy original movies. The cable network makes some of the campiest, most hilarious, and poorly made films to hit the small screen and we love them! They’re so damn entertaining. Therefore, when we heard that Universal was teaming up with the SyFy Channel to launch their own theatrical venture entitled SyFy Films we were ecstatic.

According to Deadline, Dave Howe, president of Syfy released a statement announcing the company’s newest collaboration.

“We know there is an incredible consumer appetite for genre content as proven by the top grossing box office films. Partnering our brand with the theatrical talent of Universal Pictures, a premier motion picture company, will allow us to exploit our combined expertise and resources to create commercially successful quality films that have the potential to become great franchises for the whole company.”

Even though we love seeing what crazy movie the network can come up with on a weekly basis, we’re not sure if that can transfer to theaters. It’s one thing to watch Attack of the Sabretooth, Mansquito, or Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys, when it’s a part of your basic cable package but we can’t imagine spending 10 plus dollars to see them in theaters. They’re campy and fun, but not worth that amount of money.

Would you pay to see SyFy original films in theaters?
