We knew this would happen sooner than later. The TNT hit series “The Closer” is coming to an end. The show that brought Kyra Sedgwick critical praise and several awards will cease to exist after season seven according to a press release sent out by the network. It’s all over folks.

Here are some kind words from the series’ star:

“I cannot fathom how difficult it will be to say goodbye to the incredible family we’ve created on THE CLOSER,” Sedgwick said. “I will always be grateful to James Duff for his love and friendship, as well as for creating such a rich and complex character who I have loved living with year after year. Mike, Greer, Rick and all of our outstanding cast and crew are forever in my heart. I want to thank TNT and Warner Bros. Television, as well as the incredible fans of THE CLOSER, for all of their unwavering support over the last seven years.”

We have to admit, “The Closer” really started something in the television genre. Thanks to its success there were a string of movie actresses heading to TV to land roles as hard hitting cops and lawyers. “Damages” and “In Plain Sight” are prime examples. We’ll miss you Brenda Leigh Johnson and your sassy accent!

What do you think of The Closer coming to an end? Are you saddened by the announcement?
