Neill Blomkamp is on a roll! The up and coming director has finally buckled down and begun work on his sophomore feature Elysium. Earlier this week we learned that his District 9 star Sharlto Copley became the first to sign on for a part in the film and now according to Deadline, the South African actor may be joined by Boston native Matt Damon.

The site claims that Damon is in early negotiations to co-star in Elysium for Media Rights Capital. The film has been described as being “set in the far future on another planet and is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film.” Any and all other details regarding the plot are being kept under lock and key.

If the deal goes through this will mark the second film for Media Rights Capital that Damon has worked on. The first being the upcoming release The Adjustment Bureau, which is based on a short story by Philip K. Dick.

We’re interested to see how Copley and Damon would mesh when working side by side. They’re different actors in every sense of the word. That oranges and apples type of thing, plus a solid screenplay might be what makes Elysium another winner for Blomkamp.

Do you want to see Damon in Elysium? Do you think he and Copley would work well together?
