Earlier this week we posted some photos of Emma Stone shooting a scene for Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, which means production is moving full speed ahead. And according to The Wrap, Chris Zylka has just been cast in the role of Flash Thompson. Yeah, they’re still doing casting while filming, which is always questionable but we’re trying to stay positive. Are you familiar with the character?

In the Spider-Man comics, Thompson was a bully who used to pick on Peter Parker when he was in high school but at some point they mended fences and became friends. In certain incarnations the character was written as a war veteran who has a romantic relationship with Betty Brant, another character who Parker was involved with at one point.

We’re not really familiar with Zylka’s resume but apparently he starred in the defunct “10 Things I Hate About You” TV series and MTV’s My Super Psycho Sweet 16. Not the best credits but maybe Spider-Man will give him an opportunity to step it up? He’ll join the rest of the cast that currently includes Stone, Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, and Denis Leary.

Spider-Man is scheduled to hit theaters on July 3, 2012.

What do you think of this latest casting? Are you interested in seeing the film?
