A new trailer has been released for D.J.Caruso’s latest film I Am Number Four. It’s a sci-fi action flick that stars Alex Pettyfer as one of many aliens who are being hunted down and killed. This theatrical trailer follows the teaser that was released back in September and unlike its predecessor it showcases the awesome Timothy Olyphant. Take a look…

Official Synopsis:

In the film, extraordinary teen John Smith (Pettyfer) is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny. Teresa Palmer, Kevin Durand and Callan McAuliffe co-star.

Don’t get us wrong, we love Timothy Olyphant but why does he have to play such a stereotypical character here? Every line that comes out of his mouth we’ve heard before. He’s the watcher, the mentor, the Obi-Wan type of guy who has to groom the hero for the fight of his life.

As for the other cliches present in this trailer:

  • We love how blending in always requires a character to put on a hood. Because wearing a hood in a crowd of people with their head’s exposed doesn’t make you stand out (sarcasm).
  • Olyphant’s line, “You were given these powers for a reason.” Where have we heard that before?
  • Number 6 (Teresa Palmer) walks away from an explosion with sunglasses on. She also knows how to use a shotgun, watch out everybody!

The action in this film looks pretty decent but the acting and the dialogue seem to bring out the worst in everyone involved.

I Am Number Four hits theaters on February 18, 2011.
