Update: Posters for The Father, Caleb, and The Sons have been released. Check them out now!

Kevin Smith has mixed promotion with charity for his upcoming film Red State. The director unveiled the first poster for the film after a group of generous fans pledged $1,000 to The Wayne Foundation in under 30 minutes. The foundation’s goal is to stop child rape and it’s led by former victim turned activist Jamie Walton. More on the cause and the poster below…

Red State is a horror film in which a group of misfits encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America. It takes on every area of politics, horror, and religion there is to take and delivers it in a way that only Kevin Smith can. The poster below features “The Virgin, (Kerry Bishe)” which plays on one of the religious and horror cliches that are always overused in the genres. The virgin never dies.

Smith said that this is one of four character posters so expect three more. As for the Wayne Foundation, if you want to get involved and see what they’re all about you can visit the website and make a donation. Every little bit helps and it’s for a good cause.

What do you think of the first poster for Red State? Are you interested in seeing the film?
