For those of you wondering whether or not “Dexter” would come to an end after season five you can relax. Our favorite serial killer on TV is sticking around for another year according to EOnline. The site confirmed that the show has been picked up by Showtime for a sixth season, and it isn’t being billed as its last. So there’s hope for even more “Dexter” in the future!

The official renewal announcement is expected soon but until then we’re hearing that the latest contract between the show and the network is for one year. The future of a seventh and eighth season depend on actor negotiations and other red tape but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. THR, previously reported that this week’s episode of “Dexter” received the second highest ratings ever in the show’s history.

[Spoiler alert] Coincidentally, the most recent episode featured Dexter and his killing protege getting it on after months of sexual tension. Some people thought his coupling with Lumen would kill the dynamic of the show because of the outcome of his past relationships. Women who get with him always seem to die at some point.

Are you excited about season 6? What do you think will happen next year?
