After months of speculation, the first cast member of Kathryn Bigelow’s next film Triple Frontier (Sleeping Dogs) has been announced and it’s none other than Tom Hanks. Back in October the actor was rumored to be circling the project yet nothing was set in stone but today producer Charles Roven confirmed to Coming Soon that he has indeed been cast.
“Tom Hanks is starring in the film,” Roven said, “and we’re still looking to cast the other roles. We’re hoping to start shooting the movie sometime in mid-March.” The story for Triple Frontier centers on the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.
In recent months the film was rumored to have undergone a title change (Sleeping Dogs) but when Roven addressed it today he called it Triple Frontier. Is that a confirmation that the name is still the same and that Sleeping Dogs was a hoax? Until we get a solid press release stating that info we’ll just call it by both names.
What do you think of Hanks starring in Tripe Frontier? Is he a good fit?
