It’s officially the Holiday Season and the DVDs are coming up predictably big with blockbusters-o-plenty hitting silver disc this week with something for everybody. Kids movies in the form of Twilight: Eclipse and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Romance with Knight and Day and Going the Distance. Even some indies with Cairo Time. Whatever you’d like in your stocking, we seem to have it for you this week on DVD.

Check it out below…

Feature Films

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Is there really anything that can be said about Twilight that hasn’t already been written? It has its fans and they will buy this DVD in droves. It has its detractors who will roll their eyes at those buying the DVD in droves.

Whatever the case, it’s hard to make an argument for a film series about which most people are calling the third installment the first installment that actually seems like a “real movie”.

Though, if you’re a “Twi-Hard”, you’ll want the link to buy The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on DVD.

Knight and Day

Not only does it seem that Tom Cruise is over as a solo box office draw (In other words, nobody says: “I have to see that new movie, it has Tom Cruise in it!), I think the genre of the romantic action movie is dead too.

This had all the elements of a hit five years ago: Big Stars, Crazy Action, Funny Trailer and a Love Story. Like Mr. and Mrs. Smith in overdrive.

The problem? Nobody seems to want that anymore. Perhaps we know the formula, perhaps it’s been overkill. Whatever the case, this genre has one more shot (The Tourist) before we declare it completely deceased.

However, if you still enjoy this type of flick, you can buy Knight and Day on DVD.

Two very fine selections from the TV on DVD bin this week. You may not have watched them (or heard of them) but they’re both excellent:

  • “Parks and Recreation”: Season 2 – Buy Now
  • “The Special Relationship” – Buy Now

And Just So You Know, This DVD Exists…

Doesn’t the DVD cover look like they photoshopped in images of each of them from different movies? Is this a Ponzi scheme?
