AMC’s newest series “The Walking Dead” continues to make strides for the network. According to a report from THR, the latest episode entitled “Wildfire” was the most watched of the season with 5.5 million viewers. That’s more than the impressive premiere, which brought in 5.3 million viewers and a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Some of you may already know that AMC only green lit “The Walking Dead” for a six episode first season. And even though they’ve renewed it for a second longer one, they’re probably kicking themselves after recording these numbers. It’s interesting to see the audience grow this much considering how people have been complaining about its lack of accuracy compared to the books.

Perhaps the changes in the characters and story don’t bother you as much as we suspected. “Wildfire” earned 15% more viewers than the fourth episode. Even though it’s not perfect, the folks behind it must be doing something right. Whatever it is we hope they keep the quality up. We don’t want an up and down follow up season like this year’s “True Blood.”

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays on AMC at 10 pm.
