Do you remember when it was announced that Mark Wahlberg had been offered the title role in The Crow reboot? Most of us were in shock and couldn’t believe that the actor was given first dibs on the part. Not to say that Wahlberg is a bad actor because he’s better than some others we know, but he just didn’t seem like the right fit. Therefore, imagine our relief when we found out that he opted out of the movie and decided to pass on the offer.

Over at Cinematical, they spoke to the actor about The Crow rumors and he nipped them in the bud right then and there.

We never committed to making the movie. They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie.

Thank God for departing directors. If they’re going to reboot the property they should pick an unknown or someone who could slip into the character with ease. The Crow debuted in theaters 16 years ago in 1994, and starred Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a rock musician who is murdered trying to rescue his girlfriend from thugs, and returns from the dead one year later to exact vengeance. It was a star-making role for Lee who unfortunately died during its production in 1993.

Who do you think should play the role now?
