A few months ago we learned that “Seinfeld” alum Julia Louis-Dreyfus was out of a job after CBS pulled the plug on her sitcom “The New Adventures of Old Christine.” Luckily, the actress knows how to roll with the punches and according to EW, Louis-Dreyfus has been cast as the lead in a new comedy pilot for HBO.
The show is called “Veep” and it centers on the hilarious activities at the White House. Yep, this will be a political comedy. Think “The West Wing” meets “Spin City.” “Former Senator Selina Meyer [Louis-Dreyfus] finds being Vice President of the United States is nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned about.” The script was written by Simon Blackwell and Armando Iannucci.
Not only will Louis-Dreyfus star in the film but she’ll also moonlight as a producer. Does “Veep” sound like something you’d be interested in. Besides her cameo on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” we’ve never seen the actress handle cable comedy before. We wonder if she’ll be dropping F-bombs all over the place to get her point across?
What do you think of Louis-Dreyfus new acting gig? What do you think of the premise?
