Over the past few years, M.Night Shyamalan has been on the receiving end of some pretty harsh reviews. Ever since his acclaimed 1999 debut The Sixth Sense he’s gone downhill. We even tracked his progression or should we say “regression” over the past decade and out of all of his films one stands out as the worst…The Happening! The movie starred Mark Wahlberg and over the weekend, while out promoting his latest project The Fighter the actor admitted to the world what we’ve known all along. The Happening f*cking sucked!

The Happening popped up in conversation when Wahlberg described how he and his co-star Amy Adams first met on set. They talked over lunch and somehow the 2008 Shyamalan film became the topic of conversation.

Wahlberg: “We had actually had the luxury of having lunch before to talk about another movie and it was a bad movie that I did. She dodged the bullet. And then I was still able to … I don’t want to tell you what movie … alright The Happening. Fuck it.”

Don’t you love how he tried to be discreet in the beginning? He couldn’t deny the elephant in the room, so he went on to defend his decision to star in the film.

Wahlberg: “It is what it is. Fucking trees, man. The plants. Fuck it. You can’t blame me for not wanting to try to play a science teacher. At least I wasn’t playing a cop or a crook.”

Touche Mark. Touche. It’s unfortunate that the one movie where he plays against type had to be garbage but it’s OK, we forgive you.

Are you surprised that Wahlberg admitted that The Happening was horrible? Have you seen the film?
