After the success of last summer’s The Karate Kid, Jaden Smith’s career has been on the rise so why would he want to risk it by getting involved with M. Night Shyamalan? According to EW, Smith is in talks with The Last Airbender director to star in an upcoming project, which is more than likely the science fiction flick 1000 A.E.

Smith told EW that he’s currently reading the script for the film but can’t release any details regarding the story. He said, “I don’t want to give it away because that wouldn’t be tight, but it’s set in the future and it’s about a journey.” If that isn’t the most generic soundbite we’ve ever heard we don’t know what is. The kid is learning how to deal with the press, we’ll give him that.

We’re not sure if he’ll need to be that tight lipped about 1000 A.E because after Shyamalan’s last film he’s been in the dog house with fans. Who’s really anticipating his movies these days? Because of the scarlet letter that’s been placed on the director we’re worried about how it will affect Smith’s career. Hopefully his parents will be on board to make sure that this film doesn’t take a turn for the worse.

What do you think of Smith and Shyamalan teaming up for a film? Will you go see it?
