Disney’s latest trailer Prom has just hit MySpace with a thud. Though this is a horrible photo from the film I grant you (Aimee Teegarden outfit makes her look like a pregnant hunchback and Thomas McDonell looks like he’s trying to be Heath Ledger from 10 Things I Hate About You -good luck there!) the trailer is just as cheesy. This trailer seems way to young and immature for most of the teenagers going to prom now-a-days (man I sound old). Maybe this is made for the freshman who still dream of prom with halos around their heads, instead of all the unwanted pressure, dieting, money and for some baby bumps that may result from it!
Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think…
I’m with the first guy in the trailer, Prom basically sucks, it’s all about the hype and can never live up to expectations — actually that’s a great lesson for life, enjoy prom kids!
Apparently Disney thinks there’s more to it than that and perhaps they’re just not a cynical as me:
At “Prom,” every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.”
At least we get to see who the next round of teenage actors who will either rise to the top or do three more high school films and then disappear. We’ve got Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang, Kylie Bunbury, Nicholas Braun, Jared Kusnitz, Jonathan Keltz, De’Vaughn Nixon, Nolan Sotillo, Cameron Monaghan, Joe Adler, Janelle Ortiz, and Raini Rodriguez.
I haven’t heard of any of these names! Who do you think will stick around?
Prom hits theaters April 29, 2011.
