Now that we know the title to Christopher Nolan’s follow up to The Dark Knight, it’s time to go back to the drawing board regarding the cast. Who will play who and why? Thus far, the only new actor to be confirmed for the film is Tom Hardy and we have absolutely no idea who he’s going to play. There were early rumors that he might be Killer Croc and now there’s word that he could be Dr. Hugo Strange. Talk about coming out of left field!

If Hugo Strange doesn’t sound familiar to you it’s because he’s one of Batman’s older enemies. His appearance in the comic books precedes that of Catwoman and The Joker. Strange’s name is self-explanatory of his behavior. The character is a mad scientist who’s obsessed with Batman and his civilian alter ego Bruce Wayne. The good doctor knows of Batman’s secret identity but he keeps that information to himself.

Strange has appeared in various incarnations in the comics and on “Batman: The Animated Series,” “The Justice League,” and “The Batman.” The folks over at Batman News seem to think that Hardy will bring the doctor to the big screen in The Dark Knight Rises. Even though this is a rumor, this is the same source that claimed that The Riddler wouldn’t be in the film (true) and that Anne Hathaway and Rachel Weisz were in the running for the female leads (also true).

Are you familiar with the Hugo Strange character? Do you think Hardy would make a good fit?
