A lot of us were wondering when the trailers for next year’s comic book movies were going to debut and lo’ and behold, we’ve got one! Warner Bros has released a teaser for their big screen adaptation of The Green Lantern. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character and to be honest this movie doesn’t look anything like we thought it would. Is that a good or bad thing? You be the judge…
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.
The little bit they show of Blake Lively’s character Carol Ferris, isn’t the highest point of the trailer. I’ve always had issues with her in this role because Hal and Carol should be around the same age, and she just seems too young to play her. On another note, the special effects used on the Lanterns looks great, especially Mark Strong‘s Sinestro. Everything else, we’ll just have to play by ear. This doesn’t look horrible, but I want to see more.
The Green Lantern debuts in theaters on June 17.
What do you think of the first trailer for The Green Lantern?
