New Teaser Trailer for Cars 2 Channels Mission Impossible
By Krystal Clark
Disney/Pixar have released a new teaser trailer for the long awaited sequel, Cars 2. The film is a follow up to the 2006 movie that centers on a group of well, cars, and their adventures in a small town. The sequel will take it a step further and force the characters out of their normal setting and push them into a world of international espionage via racing! Check out the trailer…
Star race car Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
This trailer has Mission Impossible written all over it. It has everything from the music, to the plot, to the older, wiser handler who in this case is played by Michael Caine. Why is he always the voice of reason?
Cars 2 hits theaters on June 24, 2011 and it will be available in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.

If it's channeling anything, it's James Bond, not Mission Impossible. Have you even seen Mission Impossible?

They're doing another cars movie because Disney makes an absolute killing off selling anything to kids that has an image of Lightning McQueen on it. This movie will make money, but more importantly for Disney, it will guarantee another few years of insane sales for any cars-related product. Trust me, I have 2 boys…

No it doesn't…at all…in even the slightest.
I'm amazed anyone could be confused about what it was referencing.

I so so so agree with you.
Pixar had always distinguished itself by its unique stories, always being careful enough of creating something original every time, and sticking to that idea. But of course! that's pretty much over now that Disney came into the picture pschh.
