Kal Penn is returning to familiar territory in Washington D.C. The actor who’s most famous for starring in the Harold & Kumar films, took a leave of absence from Hollywood to embark on a political career. Penn, who was also a regular on the Fox series “House,” went on to work at the White House as a liaison to the Asian American and arts communities. He was lured out of his political responsibilities when he returned to shoot A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas but now that production has wrapped it’s back to the Obama business.
While working at the White House, Penn goes by his government name Kalpen Modi. According to a statement released to ABC news, the actor got a little promotion upon his return. He’s now an Associate Director for the Office of Public Engagement.
“While OPE works collectively on conducting outreach to the American public and various organizations, he will be the point person for those in the Arts, Youth, and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities,” said spokesman Shin Inouye.
What do you think of Penn returning to the White House again after shooting another film? Did he make the right choice?
