Helen Mirren is one great dame and The Hollywood Reporter recognizes that. They have announced plans to honor the Oscar winning actress with the prestigious Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. She’ll receive the statue next month during a private ceremony where it will be presented by fellow Best Actress winner, Halle Berry.

The event will take place on December 7 at the Women in Entertainment breakfast, where CBS News anchor Katie Couric will give the key note address. “The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award is presented annually to a woman who has built a unique entertainment career and made significant contributions to society.” Previous winners of the award include Barbara Walters, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster and Glenn Close.

Over the course of her career, Mirren was nominated for four Academy Awards before finally taking the statue home in 2007 for her performance in The Queen. She’s always been a free spirit, who’s remained open minded to those around her. Even with her casual demeanor she still manages to carry herself with class and dignity, which has made her one of Hollywood’s greatest dames.

What do you think about Mirren receiving the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award? Do you think she deserves it?
