Production on the long awaited Muppets movie has finally begun. Screenwriter and co-star Jason Segel was recently spotted on set alongside his co-star Amy Adams shooting a street scene. Not only were those two photographed, but we also caught a glimpse of the newest Muppet, Walter. Unfortunately, for those of you who still believe that Muppets are real, we also get a good look at his puppeteer. Talk about ruining the illusion. Take a look…
“The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made is about Gary, Mary, and Walter (a man, his girlfriend, and the man’s life-long nondescript, brown puppet best friend) getting the old Muppet gang – now retired entertainers known for the same Muppet show we know them from – together to save the TV studio that the original show was shot in. A villain, Tex Richman, bent on drilling for oil underneath the studio, is due to take over the studio in weeks, and the only way to stop him? Putting on a show that draws ten million viewers.”
We’re all old enough to know that Muppets aren’t real but who wants to see their puppeteers on the ground with their hands up their pants? Not us. That’s the only reason these photos are slightly disappointing but other than that, it’s good that they finally began filming. The movie is slated to hit theaters on December 25, 2011, which means they’ve got a little over a year to shoot and complete post-production. They need to hop to it.
What do you think the on set photos from The Muppets movie?
