First Look: Amanda Seyfried in Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood

After tackling the world of surfers, skateboarders, and vampires, Catherine Hardwicke is gearing up for her next project, Red Riding Hood. The film, as you can obviously tell, is based on the popular children’s story of the same name. In this version, Amanda Seyfried appears as the cloaked protagonist, and over at ShockTillYouDrop they’ve posted the first official photos of her dressed in character. Check them out below…

The script for Red Riding Hood was written by David Leslie Johnson, who previously penned the screenplay for the horror flick Orphan. This version of Little Red Riding Hood is supposed to be a darker and more adult take on the story. Besides Seyfried, the cast includes Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas, Virginia Madsen, Billy Burke (no surprise there), Shiloh Fernandez, and Julie Christie as the grandmother.

As you can tell this photo was taken out of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly Magazine. It shows Seyfried dressed in her hood, and Fernandez embracing her in the bottom photo.

Red Riding Hood hits theaters on March 11, 2011, the same weekend as the alien action fest, Battle: Los Angeles. That will be an interesting fight for box office supremacy.
