After an obscene amount of marketing hype, Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow finally took the stage at the 2010 Country Music Awards last night to perform in front of the genre’s finest. The actress is the star of an upcoming film called Country Strong where she plays a troubled country artist opposite real life singer-turned-actor Tim McGraw. During last night’s ceremony she performed the theme song from the film, with a little help from music legend Vince Gill. Take a look…

You can tell that Paltrow was a little nervous at the beginning of the performance but she held her own. It seems like she took her role in her film very seriously, because we had no idea that she also learned how to play the guitar. This marks the first time that anyone has heard the “Country Strong” song live in its entirety and we have to admit, it’s not bad.

Country Strong centers on a young singer-songwriter (Garrett Hedlund) who gets involved with a fallen, emotionally unstable country star (Paltrow). The pair embark on a career resurrection tour helmed by her husband/manager (McGraw) and featuring a beauty-queen-turned-singer (Leighton Meester). Between concerts, romantic entanglements and old demons threaten to derail them all.

Country Strong is scheduled to hit theaters on December 22nd in limited release and January 7, 2011 in wide.
