If you’re a fan of HBO’s “True Blood” and the long running Harry Potter film series, this news is for you! One of the castmembers from the wizard franchise has joined forces with the vampires on Alan Ball’s hit series. According to a report from Deadline, Fiona Shaw who plays Aunt Petunia in the Potter movies will star as a regular named Marnie.

Season 3 of “True Blood” was dominated by werewolves and the Southern vampire kingdoms and next year it will follow up with witches — lots and lots of witches. Shaw’s character Marnie will be “a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch.” Originally, the role was envisioned as a little younger but its been adjusted for Shaw. We guess Ball wanted her in the role that bad.

One of the major rules that Ball has stuck by when it comes to this series is no stunt casting. That means no cameos from big movie stars to distract from the stories. Even though Shaw is a part of a billion dollar film franchise she isn’t the face of Potter so her addition to the cast is understandable. On the other hand, if Daniel Radcliffe got on board then we’d have a problem.

What do you think of Shaw playing Marnie?
