Yesterday we learned that Martin Sheen was in final negotiations to play the role of Uncle Ben in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot and now his significant other has been revealed. According to Coming Soon, Oscar winning actress and current star of the ABC drama “Brothers & SistersSally Field has been offered the role of Aunt May. Sheen and Field as Andrew Garfield’s Aunt and Uncle, does that look right to you?

While Sheen is busy signing on the dotted line, Sony has gone ahead and offered the part of Aunt May to Field, which means the role is hers for the taking. The character was previously played by Rosemary Harris in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, an actress who is slightly older than Field. If she accepts the role she’ll join Garfield, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifans who are already in the cast.

Both Sheen and Field are talented but I’ve got to be honest, it’s hard for me to look at her without thinking about the importance of my bone health. Those Boniva commercials she stars in have really ruined her for me.

Spider-Man is scheduled to hit theaters on July 3, 2012.

What do you think of Sheen and Field playing the new Uncle Ben and Aunt May? Do you think they should take the parts?
