Kiefer Sutherlnd has found new ways to occupy his time now that a clock is no longer counting down every minute of his life. The award winning actor who played Jack Bauer on the hit Fox series “24” for over 7 seasons has landed a new gig and it’s not on television or in film. He’s headed to the stage! Sutherland is slated to make his Broadway debut in That Championship Season.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Sutherland’s publicist confirmed on Tuesday that the actor had formally joined the cast of the Broadway production. That Championship Season will be directed by Gregory Mosher and is scheduled to open in March. Aside from Sutherland, the cast includes Chris Noth, Brian Cox, Jason Patric and Jim Gaffigan. That’s a pretty good roster of actors to work with on a daily basis. It also doesn’t hurt that Patric is the son of the play’s author Jason Miller and he starred opposite Sutherland in the cult classic, The Lost Boys.
The play centers on “a group of high school basketball champions who come together at a reunion to dissect their troubled lives. The play opened on Broadway in 1972 and starred Paul Sorvino and Charles Durning.”
What do you think of Sutherland taking the stage for the first time? Have you seen or heard of the play before this?
