How big is the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn going to be? Seriously, this movie has to feature one of the most bloated rosters we’ve ever seen! Besides the regular actors who’ve been with the franchise since the first film, we’ve got a whole slew of newcomers being added to fill up the vampire covens. A couple weeks ago over 15 actors joined Breaking Dawn and today another 8 have come on board!
Summit Entertainment announced today that the following actors have been cast in supporting roles in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN:
- Olga Fonda (LOVE HURTS)
- Janelle Froehlich (Hacienda Heights)
- Masami Kosaka (THE RUNAWAYS)
- Sebastiao Lemos (Brazilian TV series Força-Tarefa)
- Amadou Ly (THE TESTED, THE BRIDGE)
- Ty Olsson (2012)
- Wendell Pierce (RAY)
- Carolina Virguez (Spanish TV series Matalobos)
Why?! Why? Why?!! What are all of these characters going to do exactly? The press release doesn’t explain their function in the story. We’re not sure if they are more coven people or if they’re new characters who have nothing to do with the vamps. Maybe we might actually get some humans who don’t have supernatural backgrounds? That would be a nice change of pace.
Just because a book or the source material for a film has multiple characters, it doesn’t mean that they should all appear in the big screen adaptation. What works on the page doesn’t always work on the screen. There are plenty of great movies based on books that took out characters and entire sections to make it more concise and better. It happens.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I opens in theaters nationwide on November 18, 2011.
What do you think of the casting additions to Breaking Dawn? Do you think it’s a good or a bad sign for the film?
