We’ve all come to terms with the fact that the next Bourne film won’t feature Jason Bourne aka Matt Damon. Universal recently hired screenwriter and director Tony Gilroy to helm the film entitled The Bourne Legacy, which will feature all the characteristics of the Bourne films, except for the character himself. According to a recent interview with Damon, the actor had no idea that they were making the movie without him. He found out from the internet just like the rest of us!

According to Parade Magazine,

“I found out they’re making another when somebody saw it on the Internet. Nobody bothered to call me. I’m not in it, but even so, they’ll work Bourne into the title I guess. Universal just wants to call everything the Bourne something. So I guess they are trying to make another franchise and as they say, ‘It isn’t over until it’s over.’”

Well, that’s a crappy way to find out that you’ve been replaced. But let’s be realistic, can he ever be replaced? To be fair, Damon made it pretty clear that he and director Paul Greengrass were a package deal and when the helmer decided to leave the series, the writing was on the wall. Bourne is one of the few franchises that Universal has that’s a solid money maker, and they won’t let it go down without a fight.

What do you think of Damon’s reaction to The Bourne Legacy?
