The official plot synopsis for Paramount’s next Transformers sequel has been released. Recently the subtitle for the film was announced as Transformers: The Dark of the Moon and it’s taken us a while to get used to because frankly it sounds kind of lame. But then again, this is the follow up to Revenge of the Fallen so what else would you expect? Over at Amazon, they’ve revealed the plot description for the new sequel, and if you’re still interested in the franchise, you can check it out below…
Here it is:
The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.
The good news is, the Autobots and Decepticons are heading to space. The bad news is the humans are still a huge part of the story, hence Sam and his “aid.” Transformers: The Dark of the Moon will be directed by Michael Bay and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2011.
