The first official poster for the action flick Drive Angry 3D has been released over on Shocktillyoudrop, and it looks strangely familiar. A lot of posters have debuted over the past few months and they all seem to have one thing in common — orange sparks! They are everywhere. Take a look below to see what we mean…
Drive Angry 3D centers on a vengeful father who becomes embroiled in a bloody and protracted car chase with the goons who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, Billy Burke (yes, the dad from Twilight), and William Fichtner. It’s directed by Patrick Lussier and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 11, 2011.
As for the poster, what’s with all the sparks at the bottom? We take it that they represent friction from the brakes of his car. This is a similar effect that appears in one of the new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows posters as well, which we chocked up to representing the burning of Hogwarts.
Then we have Unstoppable, which is nothing but orange sparks! Since the film centers on a runaway train, it’s understood that they refer to the friction on the train tracks.
Either way, all three of these movies are very different, yet they share one common thread – the orange sparks. They’re everywhere and they’re starting to creep us out. Get original marketing people.
What do you think of the first poster for Drive Angry 3D? Have you ever noticed the orange sparks before?
