Natalie Portman has been dropping out of projects left and right as of late. Just yesterday it was announced that she opted not to star as the lead in Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming sci-fi pic Gravity. Now the studio and director are hoping that Sandra Bullock will step in and save the day. In that article, we also wrote that she might leave the adaptation Pride and Prejudice and Zombies because of possible scheduling conflicts and today, it’s been confirmed. She’s out of that too!

What’s going on with Ms. Portman exactly? According to EW, the actress has officially bowed out of the project right after it was announced that director David O. Russell had also left to helm another film. Even though she won’t act in Zombies, Portman is still on board as a producer. We’re sure plenty of actresses out there will be interested in taking over the lead role. The book from which the film will be based in a cult favorite.

The story for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will expand on the Jane Austen classic by adding a few blood thirty zombies into the mix. It’s based on the reinterpretation of author Seth Grahame-Smith, and tells the timeless story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers. Sounds intriguing.

Who do you think should replace Portman in the film?
