Mission Impossible 4 just got injected with a heavy dose of estrogen. Over the past couple weeks we’ve seen Tom Cruise on the set of the sequel in various costumes doing stunts, but for the most part his supporting cast has been M.I.A. Who will his alter ego Ethan Hunt go up against this time? He might have met his match in Lea Seydoux, who’s been cast as the female villain in the film.

Seydoux, who was last seen in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (she played Prince John’s wife), will join Michael Nyqvist (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) on the dark side for the European set film. The actress is only 25 years old and to go up against a veteran like Tom Cruise is a real feat.

The cast of Mission Impossible 4 also includes Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, and oldies but goodies Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg. We’re not sure what the plot for the movie entails, but it seems like it will have the same international feel as MI:3.

Mission Impossible 4 hits theaters on December 16, 2011. It will be directed by Brad Bird, and JJ Abrams and Cruise will both produce with Paramount distributing.

What do you think of Seydoux joining the cast of MI:4?
