Johnny Depp is truly an awesome individual. Not only is the Oscar nominated actor talented, but he’s an overall good person. How do we know this? Well, if his shy yet polite demeanor during interviews didn’t confirm it for you, check out his latest performance. The actor recently took a break from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to make a 9 year old girl’s dream come true. He surprised her at school, in her classroom, dressed as the one and only Jack Sparrow!
The child in question is 9 year old Beatrice Delap, a student at Meridian Primary School, which happened to be near the south-east London area where Depp is currently filming Pirates 4. She wrote him a letter asking if Captain Jack could help her and the students stage a mutiny against their teachers. As an incentive, she also put that they have “plenty of rum” available for him. We hope that’s not the case, they’re kids!
Here’s a copy of her letter:
If you’re having a hard time reading it here’s the gist of what the letter says,
‘Captain Jack Sparrow, At Meridian Primary School, we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we’d love if you could come and help.’Beatrice Delap, aged nine, a budding pirate.’
The school was only notified a mere 10 minutes prior to Depp’s arrival. When he entered the classroom, he asked for Beatrice to make herself known and then gave her a hug. He told her, “Maybe we shouldn’t mutiny today ‘cos there are police outside monitoring me.”‘
Oh, Johnny. Is there anything you can’t do? What a genuine sweetheart.
Are you surprised that Depp went out of his way to surprise this little girl?
