The cast of David Fincher’s next film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo just got a dose of three talented actors. One of them includes a Swedish star who also appeared in the original film version by Niels Arden Oplev. The report comes from the website SvD, and it confirms that Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, and David Dencik have all signed on for roles in the English language adaptation.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo centers on a middle-aged journalist who joins forces with a private investigator named Lisbeth Salander to solve a missing persons case that’s been open for decades. Daniel Craig plays the journalist, who’ll work alongside Rooney Mara as the young investigator. The cast also includes Robin Wright, and Christopher Plummer.
Dencik appeared in the original adaptation of the books in the role of Janne Dahlman, and thus far he’s the first actor to tackle roles in both the English and Swedish films. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the first of three installments in The Millennium Trilogy. There’s been a huge question of whether or not Fincher will take a note from the Swedish filmmakers and also make three movies.
When the website asked him if we could expect more, he stated,”We’ll see. If the first is not good, it’s no use to do more.” It sounds like he’s open to it. Hopefully, with him behind the camera it will be great because if this movie sucks he’ll have a lot of explaining to do.
