Theater has never been my thing, but every now and again something catches my eye and Jersey Boys was one of them. It has comedy, drama, and great music backed by the tunes of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons, the group on which the play is based. The award winning and commercial hit has caught the interest of Hollywood and according to Deadline, GK films is bringing it to the big screen.

Everyone one and their mother, wanted to get their hands on the film rights to Jersey Boys, but that honor went to producer Graham King. Authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice will pen the script based on the book Jersey Boys: The Story of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. “The play tells the story of how Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi went from blue-collar wrong side of the track origins to become an American pop sensation, selling 175 million records worldwide before they were 30 years old.”

Jersey Boys has generated over $1 billion worldwide since it opened in 2005 with productions in London, Toronto, Boston, and of course New York City. The film version will feature all the signature tunes from the Four Season’s catalog including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll, Oh What A Night,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.”

If you’ve never seen the play or have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a little taste of what you’re missing. They’re are amazing!
