Tom Hanks is looking to team up with Oscar winning director Kathyrn Bigelow for his next project. According to Deadline, the actor has his eye on her upcoming feature, Sleeping Dogs. The film, which was formerly titled Triple Frontier, will reunite Bigelow with The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal. Sources claim that Hanks is seriously considering joining the film in the lead role.

The story for Sleeping Dogs centers on the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime. The film will be produced by Bigelow, Boal, and ” Charles Roven (who apparently works on everything) via his Atlas Entertainment.

The film is set to start production early next year and has 5 primary roles that need to be filled. We’re assuming they will come together quickly because of the production deadline they’re trying to meet.  We want to see Hanks in this movie. It’s been a while since the actor has had the opportunity to really showcase his dramatic skills (the Da Vinci movies don’t count).

Do you think Hanks should join Bigelow in Sleeping Dogs? Would you watch the film?
