Tonight, “Glee” will take a break from their Britney Spears high of last week to focus on something a little more important — faith. The show has tackled serious issues in the past like teen pregnancy, adoption, and body image, but belief in a higher power will be questioned when a life or death tragedy strikes close to home.
Tonight, Kurt (Chris Colfer) will be given terrible news when he discovers that his father Burt (Mike O’Malley) has been rushed to the hospital. This event coincides with Finn (Cory Monteith) finding a religious figure in his grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a domino effect that rushes through the students and teachers, which begs the question, “What do you believe?”
No matter how dark the tone, “Glee” always has to have a rockin’ soundtrack to get its message across. In this case, you can expect tunes like R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion,” and Billy Joel’s “Only the Good Die Young.” Yeah, they’re really pulling out all the stops for this one.
If anything, this will serve as a great opportunity for Colfer to bring some drama in the scenes relating to his father. The character isn’t a believer himself, so it will be interesting to see if he reaches for something, anything during this crisis.
What do you think of tonight’s Glee?
