Chelsea Handler is the host of a nightly talk show entitled “Chelsea Lately,”who also emceed this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Now she’s hopping on to the big screen for McG‘s latest film, This Means War. The comedian will join headliner Reese Witherspoon alongside Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, for an action comedy with a romantic twist.
This Means War centers on two best friends who have been inseparable since childhood. They grow up and discover that they’ve fallen in love with the same woman, which causes their close bond to disintegrate. They’re both veteran spies and what goes from a typical love triangle turns into a conflict of epic proportions.
Handler will play Witherspoon’s “best friend and confidante” who helps her through this tumultuous time. This marks Handler’s second major studio role, following her stint in the Russell Brand comedy Hop. This Means War will be produced by Overbrook Entertainment’s James Lassiter and Will Smith, and distributed by 20th Century Fox.
How much do you want to bet that Handler will be there to lend a bitchy ear to Witherspoon’s character? Hopefully, she’s the lonely, nagging type who will point out the fact that two really attractive guys want to be with her. Don’t you hate that in movies? It’s always, “Woe is me” in that scenario. Set her straight Handler!
