After a rollercoaster of castings, X-Men First Class has finally settled down and begun shooting. A few weeks ago, we brought you some on set photos featuring January Jones as Emma Frost, and today we’ve got a few more to add to the batch. Over on Oh No They Didn’t, they’ve posted several behind the scenes images of James McAvoy’s Prof. Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique, and Rose Byrne’s Moira MacTaggert. Take a look…
These photos make us wonder how old Mystique aka Raven Darkholme is supposed to be in the film. She seems mighty close to the Professor and Moira looks jealous or concerned about their involvement. They did hire a child actor to play a younger version of Mystique, so maybe she’ll play a twenty-something here? Also, there’s the casting of Azazel, who’s the father or her son Nightcrawler. Unless Fox is trying to delve into a story of statutory rape, she has to be at least 18 years old. What do you think?
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
X-Men First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn and scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.
