Get ready for a darker, slow motion infused Superman thanks to Warner Bros decision to hire Zack Snyder to helm the reboot. According to Heat Vision, Synder beat out some tough competition to direct the film including Darren Aronofksy, who was said to be in “early talks” just last week.
The trade reports that negotiations began earlier today for the helmer of 300, Watchmen, and most recently Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. With the revival of the defiled Batman franchise at the hands of Christopher Nolan, the studio hired him as a producer to do the same for Supes. While he’s behind the scenes shepherding the project Snyder will be behind the camera doing what he does best.
The trade also stated something interesting regarding the new film’s story. “Goyer is writing the script, which is rumored to have, like Superman Returns, a Richard Donner Superman connection. In the movie’s case, it’s a villain connection: General Zod.” General Zod? Interesting. Warner Bros, has been trying hard to make Superman more modern and more realistic like its Batman counterpart but to no avail.
Visually, Snyder is pretty decent. He has a signature style that’s all his own. We’re more concerned about the script. Goyer is hit or miss in our book. Luckily, when he works alongside the Nolans he manages to make magic happen. Hopefully, that happens here as well.
What do you think of Zack Snyder directing Superman?
