The cast of Men in Black 3 just got infused with more Oscar winning power. Tommy Lee Jones won’t be the only statue holding actor in Sony’s new sci-fi sequel. According to THR, Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee Returns) is signing on to co-star in a supporting role. This shouldn’t be a shock, it couldn’t stay a boys club forever!
According to the trade, Thompson is in talks to play “take-charge MIB operative Agent Oh, who is monitoring a prison breakout.” In other words, she’s going to be the strong, no-nonsense female character needed to ground the story. Not much has been said about the plot but thanks to this description we know the inmates will be running the asylum.
Once Thompson’s contract is finalized she’ll join Jones, Will Smith, Josh Brolin, and Jemaine Clement. Supposedly the film will have a time travelling element or will somehow feature the setting of 1969 where Brolin will play a young version of Agent Kay (Jones) and Clement will star as the movie’s villain Yaz.
Men in Black 3 is scheduled to start production at the end of October in New York.
