Did you really think that Hollywood would leave our favorite childhood stories alone knowing how successful Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was? The film made over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office and everybody wants to get in on it. According to THR, a new adaptation is on the way called Snow White and the Huntsman. We’re headed back to the woods to hang with the “fairest one of all” but she’ll be joined by more than just seven little dwarfs.

The trade claims that the film will be a new take on the classic tale, which is best remembered from the Disney animated film Snow White. Snow White and the Huntsman will be directed by Rupert Sanders and produced by Joe Roth from a screenplay written by Evan Daugherty.

“The new take sees an expanded role for the Huntsman  - in the fairy tale, he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, but instead lets her go – and according to sources the two are chained together for part of the movie as they make their escape.” And no, the Huntsman is not a love interest for our leading lady, the prince is very much in the picture. Instead, he acts like a mentor and teaches the young woman how to fight and survive.

This project comes at an interesting time considering that Burton is rumored to be working on Maleficent with Angelina Jolie, and Brett Ratner is doing an adaptation of Snow White as well.
