A few weeks ago the trailer for director Clint Eastwood‘s latest cinema-extravaganza Hereafter hit the internet with a number of powerful images, an interesting story and Eastwood’s recent Oscar champ Matt Damon.

Something about this poster just doesn’t capture the intensity of the trailer. Maybe it’s because Matt Damon looks so happy in this poster and his eyes are almost sparkling even though he’s supposed to be a dark tortured soul who sees death all the time. It’s almost as if the trailer and the poster are completely unrelated.

What do you think? Does the trailer tie into the poster? Check it out below…

The film was written by Academy Award winning writer Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) and co-stars award-winning French actress Cécile de France. There’s definitely a lot of promise here!

“Hereafter” tells the story of three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways. Matt Damon stars as George, a blue-collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (Cécile de France), a French journalist, has a near-death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might—or must—exist in the hereafter.

The film is set for release on October 22, 2010.
