Really? “Weeds” is going to be around for another season? What is Showtime thinking? Even though we feel as if the series is past its prime the executives at the network disagree. According to Zap2it, both “Weeds” and the freshman dramedy “The Big C” have been renewed for another season.
This return will mark the 7th season for the Mary Louise Parker led series that used to center on an unconventional weed supplier in the suburbs. Currently the show’s about a family on the run, who finds time to sell marijuana to people in and around a hotel. Sigh. That’s not the “Weeds” we fell in love with years ago.
“For six seasons, we’ve happily traveled along with Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) and we’re equally as excited to follow Laura Linney and ‘The Big C’ team as they chart Cathy’s unique journey through such a provocative and personal subject as cancer,” continues Nevins. “We’re thrilled that these two signature shows will be returning to the network in 2011.”
As for the direction both shows will take, “The Big C” will “continue with Cathy’s journey into the fall of her battle with cancer”, as for “Weeds” who knows. We literally have no idea considering the show should have ended once its core cast members started dropping like flies.
What do you think of Weeds and The Big C returning for another season?
