The cast of Nicolas Winding Refn’s action flick Drive continues to grow with the addition of a new actor. “Sons of Anarchy” regular and Hellboy alum Ron Perlman has signed on to join the film according to a report from ScreenDaily. Perlman is in good company with a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Bryan Cranston, Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac Alfred Brooks, and Christina Hendricks.

The story for Drive is said to center on “a nameless Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver but ends up on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-con’s girlfriend.” We recently interviewed Mulligan regarding her character and she stated that she plays the wife of Isaac in the film, therefore maybe she’s not the “girlfriend” in question? A description of Perlman’s character hasn’t been given but considering his previous works, he’ll probably play a bad guy.

Drive is scheduled to begin production later this month in Los Angeles. Some of Refn’s previous works include the 2008 biopic Bronson with Tom Hardy and last year’s Valhalla Rising with Mads Mikkelsen. It will be interesting to see how Drive fits in with those two.

What do you think of the growing cast of Drive? Who do you think Perlman will play?
